My EXPERIENCE

I began hairdressing at 16, following in my Mom’s footsteps. I trained at a premium chain salon in Birmingham briefly, but gained my NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 Hairdressing qualifications at a small salon in Wolverhampton, where I quickly became one of the head stylists within 2 years.

Here, I truly discovered my love for hairdressing, especially colouring services. This is where my passion lay for quite some time, until I decided to dive into the world of curls. Unable to do this to my full potential at the salon I worked in at the time, I decided to take the leap and work for myself.

I began working for myself in January 2019 renting a chair in a salon. I was mostly working on straight hair, but curly clients were slowly booking in! Fast forward to July 2020, straight out of the first Covid lockdown and finally able to be back in the salon, I was inundated with booking requests for people with all hair types, needing my help!

For around 18 months, I worked 6-7 day weeks teaching myself how to work with all textures, doing as much research and product experimenting as possible. I felt a passion for my career like never before!

In July 2023 I opened my own private studio salon, dedicated to working with hair of all textures, and providing coaching with appointments as standard. Since then, I’ve been working with haircare brands for curly hair, offering coaching to hairdressers and workshops in the community, whilst working full time at my studio salon!

My focus now is on sharing the knowledge I’ve learned, and continuing to learn on my journey with curls to as many people as possible. As I always say, knowledge is power!

FAQs

  • If your hair has any sort of texture to it, isn’t naturally straight and you mostly opt to wear your hair natural, you’ll be able to book a Curly Cut.

Curly Cuts can be tailored to suit wearing your hair straight or curly, but this depends on the hair type and texture.

  • Bookings require a non-refundable deposit of 25%. This will be taken upon booking via the online booking system.

Bookings are subject to a cancellation charge of 50% (including the deposit), which is applicable if cancelled less than 24 hours before the booking.

Bookings are also subject to a no-show charge of 100% (including the deposit).

Charges will need to be paid in full before making a new booking.

If you don’t wish to pay the charge, no future appointments will be offered and the deposit will be deducted.

  • There’s no expectation for clients to arrive to their appointment with freshly washed hair - you’re welcome to attend as you are.

Ideally, I’d like to see your natural hair, but a photograph will work too.

Have a list of products that you use ready, as we’ll discuss current haircare routines during an appointment.

This is to see what your personal preferences are, and to see what would work best for your hair type.

  • Unfortunately there is no waiting list or cancellation list - appointments are made on a first come first served basis.

New clients can book online up to 3 months in advance, whereas existing clients can book further in advance during an appointment, or via message. This is to ensure fairness and availability for existing customers.

Cancellations and rescheduled appointments occasionally become available, which will show up on the booking system.

It is recommended that you book the next available slot you can attend, then periodically check the booking system to see if there’s a sooner date you can reschedule your appointment to.

  • As of February 2024, colour services are unfortunately no longer offered in the salon. This decision was made to focus on cuts and styling, and to avoid using harsh and toxic chemicals in the salon.

This decision may change in future, but for now it will remain the same.
